Introduction

The i3S can be used in a number of ways, for many different purposes, by different types of people and organizations. In the Introduction section we will include a number of possible use-cases which may be of help when exploring the system.

The i3S is set up to assist the user to:

• Define the process you should follow to solve water management problems
• Share data, information, knowledge and experiences
• Get access to water management tools

But it will be clear that no problem is alike. For some cases it is necessary to define a problem from the very beginning to a solution which solves the problem and all possible steps in between. In other cases it could be enough to get insight in how a similar problem has been dealt with in other areas which the same characteristics.

The first use-case in this section will describe a hyphotetical, non-existing water management problem, which only purpose is to describe all possible steps, knowledge- and databases and tools available. Please start with going through this use-case, since it will help in understanding the purpose of the i3S and what it can offer.
