Tools: AquaDT
AquaDT is a Multicriteria Decision Aid Tool. A MDA tool can be described as a set of steps on the analysis of complex decision problems involving non-commensurable and conflicting criteria on the basis of which alternative decisions are evaluated and can be made.
To solve a problem, often more than one one solution is possible. In MDA these solutions are called “alternatives”. Which alternative is the best possible solution? In order to be able to assess this, the alternatives are scored against a number of criteria.
Not every criterion is of equal importance, so the user(group) is allowed to put weighing factors on the separate criteria. Based on the weighed, standardized scores the alternative can be ranked for all the criteria as a whole, or ranked per criterion.
AquaDT has been developed by the Environmental & Energy Management Research Unit (EEMRU) of the National Technical University of Athens.
The tool has been designed and tested by NTUA and the Institude for Environmental Systems Research - Germany.
The foundation of the tool were laid in the DELPHOS program developed in Comunidad y Biodiversidad (COBI) - Mexico.
